Within the first few weeks in Digistrats, he dove in head first to successfully make important contributions helping the team with their new software product VideoRemix! After the launch, Yongyi continued on and sold his very first digital product on Flippa! Now Yongyi is moving forward towards contributing to the marketing side of VideoRemix hoping to expand the customer database!

Hi my name is Yongyi and I am from Maryland, USA. I graduated as an electrical engineer, learned how to program myself. I used to be a Java developer and now I am an intern for DigiStrats.

What made you decide to join DigiStrats?

It was definitely because I was too comfortable before. I was at a place where I had the job I wanted and the house I wanted, and I rent the house out to tenants. At that moment, I felt like I got everything everyone ever wanted around my age. But I wanted something more.

There’s a big desire for growth. I started reaching out, I looked at Udemy courses from Eric Weiss, and I realized that he has a lot of potential and knowledge that I wanted to learn. I applied as an intern. Fortunate enough, I got in.

What made you interested in buying and selling businesses?

A couple of months back, I had been talking to my friends. Before, I was interested in real estates, I also saw the rise of online businesses where people are buying and selling businesses assets. It was extremely interesting and I know that it is at its beginning phase.

I am not all too familiar with it, and if I am not all too familiar with it, that means everyone’s not too. So this is a great opportunity for me to jump in and I decided that this is what I must learn next. So that’s when I decided to just go for it.

What do you think about the culture at DigiStrats now that you are a part of it?

I love the culture over here. This team is a high performance environment. One of the biggest takeaway from this was the special mind shift I had. Before, I was at a place where I was kind of lazy; I was not really getting things done. I was exposed by the team and they told me that we’re not here just to put the hours in, we are here to get things done.

That drastically changed my mindset, and it really got me to a place where I am becoming more and more efficient at what I do, and I am getting more and more things done. That means I am making more progress each and everyday.

How do you like the Philippines?

I love the Philippines! I had traveled to Thailand before, it made me realized that I wanted to travel around the world and Philippines is another destination. As a part of the internship, I had a week to decide whether I would fly out here. Without a moment of hesitation, I just said Yes, because I asked myself this question: “If I don’t do this now, will I regret it for the rest of my life?”. My answer to that question is “Yes!”. That is all the only answer I needed. That is why I decided to take the leap.

Do you feel that you could buy a business yourself now?

First and foremost, before you’re able to buy a business. You need to be knowledgeable in whatever it is that you are doing. That is where this internship came in. I am very thankful for this opportunity. I was able to get to learn a lot about analyzing deals, knowing the upsides and downsides, knowing how to finance the deals.

The most important takeaway that I got from Eric was that, you need a team in place. As long as you have a powerful and a dependable team in place, anything is possible.

Did you think that you could ever buy a business before the internship program?

No, that had never crossed my mind. It was not an idea that I could even begin to think about. It was such an unfamiliar territory for me that I did not even want to jump in.

Do you have any advice for anyone considering applying for DigiStrats Internship?

Always ask yourself this question “Will you ever regret your decision for the rest of your life if you don’t take up on this opportunity?”

If the answer is yes, then you should do it.
